does the selling price automatically qualify an item? would rolex be worse were they sold for half of the actual price? would they be better if they sold for double?

marketing and marketing gimmick are two different things. you need to market even a product with a decent background, history. no arguing there. marketing gimmick is needed when you have to sell something as an item with history and decent background though it has neither.
