DATE...Do you actually "need" it?

As a fan of "non-date" watches, I'm just wondering....Do you really feel that you "need" the date function on a watch? I really prefer the clean and symmetrical look of a watch dial without, and it's reflected in my choices of Rolex watches..the Explorer and the Sub.

I mean, I wake up in the morning, glance at the calendar, the date on the computer, and then I'm pretty sure that it's gonna be that same date aaaalll day, until tomorrow comes.

Do you really feel that you "need" that date there, or is it just a "feature"?
I'm asking this mainly because here in Hong Kong, people really regard the date feature as a "value" and if you ask to look at a watch without, or show your non-date watch to someone, they'll invariably ask: "Why do you like that one?....It's got no date?" (Makes for some good pricing though! )
