My report to YOU from the Munich-Germany Watch Show
Hi All
Last week I went to the Munich Watch Show where I had a fantastic time. I met Jeremy, Nick and Theodore all members in good standing right here at TRF with whom I talked endesly about watches modern and vintage. Some great sight seeing of Munich, great camaraderie, good German food and all in all a perfect TRF bond.... Looking forward to spend time again with you guys.. You'r a champion of a man... NOW About the actual watch show The show a week ago was FLAT and disappointing. Vintage were down, a 6263 with papers sold for 16500 euro (around $23.500) A great looking Explorer II Steve McQueen Ref: 1655 fresh from service remained unsold (?) at 7500 euro (around $10,500) But a fake one sold for 9,000 euro to a dealer ?...the old trick of bait with a real one and then switch. Brand new Sub C's and brand new GMT's C's were selling all day long for around 4500 euro if you bought more than one to 4800 euro ($6,300 to $6,700) and anyone greedy with high prices above these numbers ? ...simply went home with his watches. Many French, Italian and American watch traders/dealers were absent. Personally I bought a brand new Green Sub-C for 5400 euro (around $7,500) Also a very nice Tudor 9121/1 with brown bezel and dial ? a ladies steel oyster with a folded bracelet and a brand new DateJust 116200 with a brown flower dial-large 6 and 9 hour markers. Going there this time we either lost money or at best we broke even. But hey, the previous shows were absolute winners so I should not complain All in the "program" of doing what you love. No pictures this trip - but I promise lot's of them next time. |
