Another Newbie..
Just wanted to say hi as a new member but long time "guest" lurker and to thank all the interesting and informative people ( Chris - The GMT Master especially) for helping feed my obsession! I really like this forum because it has members from all over the world which gives an interesting perspective on how Rolex operates. A little about me... I work on aircraft for a living and have been wearing my 2001 P model Sub Date everyday since I received it new (AD). I love this watch, it has taken so many knocks over the years with absolutely no complaints, I wore it in 50deg heat for five years in Saudi Arabia with dust and sweat...still no issues..awesome! The only issue I have ever had is when my 18 month old son dropped it on the bathroom floor glass down (my palms are sweating and I'm swallowing profusely just thinking about it!) and it stopped dead. It was seven years old at this point so I told the wife I may as well get a full overhaul as something is now seriously wrong with it, turns out there is some kind of safety setup in there that when it gets a serious hit it stops the watch rather than keep running and cause damage? So the AD (I bought it from them) says they can fix it and give it back free of charge if I like as it was nothing serious :-) I love this watch..tough as nails! I had a full o/h anyway as wearing it at all times and conditions it will hopefully ensure a long healthy life and it is destined for my eldest son when I kick the bucket (hopefully a long time!). After owning the sub for a few years I started looking at Rolex a bit more and realised as you do that maybe one more would be great (you all know what I'm saying here..) you know one for everyday wear a "beater" as you will and maybe a really nice one for going out. Well I fell in love with a white faced Daytona and then spent 2.7 years on a waiting list before finally receiving my "M" model December 2008...wow what a watch!! Since then I have been saving up my cash (slowly slowly) and have made the fatal mistake of spending WAY too much time on this site and I've been bitten. I have seen so many pics of GMT11c's that I thought I would try one on...BIG mistake...getting the urge bad. To be honest I thought a Pepsi or Coke GMT would round things out nicely but the Ceramic bezel and 42mm just looks right Aaaahh!! I think I need help...sorry for the long post ..
