What made you choose the red 1680?

Hi, just wondering, for those that have this reference, what might have been your thought process while choosing the 1680 red over other vintages like say the 5512/3, gilts etc? Surely it wasn't because it's called the Eric Clapton red?:)

For me it was more the visual appeal of the RED line coupled with vintage charm that drew me in. The redline in my opinion made it standout more albeit subtly which would increase my viewing pleasure of having a standout sub.

Plus the fact that it was the best reference I could find within what I was looking to spend for my birth year.

What about you? Would you agree that a visually standout vintage would continue to be much more popular amongst the general collector population compared to say a reference which didn't have visually discernable attributes that easily stood out; leading to a more limited following amongst the collector community?

EDIT: Btw I love red callipers/BBK's on cars too so might be a fascination and association with RED as being sporty. A strict no no on yellow callipers/BBK's though. Neither would I buy a fully red car, subtle red does the trick for me.
Also must admit I did get attracted by the DRSD red lines but wasn't willing shell out the premium for that. Paying double for 2 red lines didn't make sense when the single red line did the job quite well, especially since is my first vintage:)
