inner clasp pitting on Sub's 93150

I've searched all over trying to see if this is just typical wear and tear, but I've come up with nothing..
My new-to-me K 14060M is in excellent condition, minus some pitting/corrosion at the points shown in the attached pic. It's strange, this isn't the exposed portion of the clasp fold. It still looks and feels solid at this joint, but is obviously degraded. I don't even see this on 40 year old steel, so I'm just really curious about my 10 year old bracelet. Has anybody seen this before? Maybe the consequences of 24 hour wear? Should I leave it alone, or try to polish it down? Not concerned with the aesthetics really, just longevity.
cheers!
