I wouldn't dwell on your decision at all.

I had a similar experience a few years ago. My AD called as my name had came up for a white dialed SS Daytona (after quite a while on the waiting list no less). However, even after the wait and build up I decided to take a pass.

A few years later I got the chrono itch again and went for a Speedy Pro. I know, I know.... it is not a Daytona or even a Rolex but man I love this watch. Wearing it today in fact. To me the Speedy Pro simply checks all the boxes and you can pick one up NIB for around $3K. That is hard to beat!

So I guess my advice is two fold: 1) don't look back on your decision & 2) if you are still looking for a chrono try the Omega.
