Are you looking for arguments with your MIL? Maybe you won't agree with her prescribed treatments. I disagreed with and overruled my doctor on issues along the way -- notably on immunization schedules.

Also, what about things you'd rather your family not know? There are health issues that my kids had along the way that I simply did not mention to my family. Nothing earth-shattering, but for the most part I figure that stuff is none of their bleeping business. Do you want your MIL involved in the fights you'll have with your daughter when potty training her -- including the potential outbreak and treatment of a UTI? Maybe you don't care, but that's just not on the list of conversational topics for me with my parents and in-laws.

As someone else stated, a great source for off-the-cuff advice, a poor choice for primary care provider.
