Right, I'm just looking at it from Apple's point of view. Heat/cost/battery life/stability tradeoffs need to be made based on tens of millions of units, tens of millions of customers, over a selling period of up to twenty four months.

If you are designing Verizon's "November 2011 It's The One That Will Prevail!!!" which will become "December 2011 Buy One Get One FREE Plus a VZW Can Coozie and $50 Rebate!!!" model, you have a little more liberty to include not-quite-there-yet components.

Buyers will self-select to the design approach that addresses their needs, everyone wins!
