I'm sitting in a BMW dealership today...

I'm sitting in a BMW dealership today, jeans and a tshirt awaiting my once a year free oil change. I noticed this older gentlemen sitting next to me waiting as well and he is wearing a GMT with a faded bezel. I couldn't help myself so I we got talking about the car service and the wait etc. I looked over at his watch and said have you ever sent that to Rolex for service? To make a long story short. He said he paid 289.00 for it in 1974 I think, some port in Japan at the military base store. He said he's had it serviced every 4-5 years and it's on bezel number 3. He noticed my watch as well and we had a good chat but I couldnt help but think about how much he paid vs. how much I paid for mine. the faded bezel looked great, I should have made him an offer on it!
