My last visit June 9th., 2006!?! Gruen/Rolex ???

Hi all, I was reading a thread from January of this year regarding the Aegler/Gruen/Rolex association. I was researching the movement in my Gruen watch I recently acquired and I'm somewhat baffled. Here's the deal...

I opened the caseback and it's clearly marked Gruen cal. 780. There *is* no Gruen cal 780. Here's a shot...

Here's a pic of the watch. Simply by its appearance the watch appears to be circa mid 1960's...

Now a search of the foregoing will lead you to an eBay ad for the following replacement stem...

for cal.:
GRUEN 825+826+827
ROLEX cal. 700+710+720+730+740+745+760+765+775+780
Movements manufactured by AEGLER Swiss for GRUEN and ROLEX

So we know that Aegler/Rolex/Gruen were all associated u to the early 30's when Gruen sold its stock in Aegler to Rolex.

So my question is, what the heck is a Rolex 780 doing in a Gruen watch obviously manufactured much later?
