1655 Dial Question
Hello all,
I am looking at a 1655 Explorer II that I found in an antique store. The guy deals in pre-owned Rolex watches somewhat and said that the original owner brought it in with a broken main spring and wanted to sell it. The antique dealer claims he bought it, had it serviced by a local watchmaker, and is now selling it. I had him remove the bracelet and the back so I could look at the movement, reference number and serial number. The reference was the correct 1655 and the serial was 7 million. The movement looks legit to me and looks to have been recently serviced as he claims. My question is regarding the dial. The dial is marked "TSwissT" at 6 o'clock. From the research I have done it looks like a watch of that vintage should be marked "Swiss T<25." The dial does have patina and looks aged. The watch also does not come with any boxes or papers. I know some pictures would be very useful here, but I didn't think to take any. If any of you vintage experts could chime in I'd really appreciate it. Thanks. |
