Buy New v Buy Older Pre-Owned
Let's say you want to own an 18K gold Rolex Day-Date with a President bracelet. BNIB, the price is about $28,500. But you can purchase a pre-owned, gently worn (pre-1995 or so) Day-Date/President with its timeless, classic design for $10K here or elsewhere online.
Then you send the pre-owned DD/President to Rolex for overhaul servicing at a cost of maybe $1,500. At this point, you've got $11,500 in a pre-owned watch that brand new would cost nearly three times as much. So what is the argument for buying brand new, unless you just have money to throw around? |
