6605: fake, real or pieced together?
I am looking at this watch tomorrow http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mens-ROLEX-6...item29fa819209 from ebay; the seller happens to be in the same town where I live.
(Rotated the first listing pic 90° to see the hands better; more pix online) What strikes me as odd: a) the hands – it looks as if the hour and the minute hand do not match, the latter resembling a mangled Dauphine if I'm correct b) a gold dial with a white date wheel? c) no TswissT ? d) the sn is listed as 345632 - I have a list of s/n from 1946 to 1987 (forget to note source; durn), and according to that there are no six-digit s/n's except in 1957 and 1958, which started with 6... and 8... S/n's starting with 3... were used 1971 through 1973, but this watch should be from the 50s or 60s if I'm not mistaken. As I'm writing this post I'm getting more and more suspicious. What is your opinion? |
