I became a Sub owner!

I bought my first ever automatic sport watch in 2005. It was the blue "Bond" Omega Seamaster 300M. I didn't really think about watches again until I saw the Planet Ocean about a decade later. I lusted after that watch for years, and finally purchased the version with the 8500 movement in 2012.

I love pretty much everything about the Planet Ocean 8500 - the in-house movement beautifully visible through the display back, the great detail of the dial, and the fantastic feel of quality. Admittedly, it's a chunky sized piece, especially on my 6.75" wrist.

So it wasn't any dissatisfaction with my Planet Ocean that caused me to start looking for the next watch. It was time spent reading watch blogs, forums, and classifieds that did it. I looked longingly at everything from vintage Subs to pre-moon Speedies to Daytonas. I was in no real rush, but simply enjoying the hunt.

Last week, I was returning from a business trip in Korea, and stopped at Incheon airport's duty free shop to browse watches. At the Rolex counter, I tried on the SubC No Date. Right away, I knew this was a special watch for me. I wasn't a fan of the maxi case from looking at pictures, but it looked really good in the metal. With the piece on my wrist, I felt Rolex was very successful in giving the Submariner a modern makeover. I didn't want to take it off. I wasn't prepared to buy the Sub right at that moment. The seed had been planted, though.

As soon as I got back from the trip, I contacted a local seller of a used SubC ND. We met yesterday, and I traded away the PO. Here's my first wrist shot of the Sub:
