FS: Rolex 168000 Submariner Date "Triple 0" Rare Transitional Model - Reduced
This ad supersedes any prior advertisements for this watch.
For Sale: Rolex 168000 stainless steel submariner date. The 168000 was a transitional model, slotting between the outgoing 16800 and the new reference 16610 and was the first Sub to be constructed from high grade 904L steel. By most estimates, the 168000 was only produced for about 9 months, making it extremely rare. Serial number 9868xxx is circa 1987 with matching bracelet, clasp code "K11". Condition: Previously polished case is in "very good" condition per the TimeZone guidelines with numerous minor nicks and dings as can be expected of a vintage piece. Original tritium dial, hands, and bezel insert. Hands have some corrosion and are a few shades lighter than the dial. Also note that a small amount of lume has flaked off the 12 o'clock marker and the crystal has two tiny chips along the perimeter that are difficult to view with the naked eye. Both the reference number and serial number are crisp and can be clearly read. Service history is unknown, but watch winds very smoothly and is running within COSC specs. Bracelet does not have too much stretch and features 11 links, which I believe is 1 link short. Accessories: Watch only. No box or paperwork. The modern Rolex box in the photos is just a prop and is not included. Price & Terms: $4200 including domestic overnight shipping with insurance. Bank wire preferred but paypal will be considered if buyer is reputable and agrees to pay the 3% fee. If you don't like my price, make me a reasonable offer. Lowball offers and messages asking for my "best price" will be ignored. As far as references, I have completed dozens of transactions with forum members and substantial positive feedback can be viewed by searching for my username "NKflyer" in the "who's who" section of the forum. Please inquire if further info is needed regarding references. No returns unless this watch is significantly not as described so please view pics very carefully and ask any questions you might have before committing to purchase. Private message is the best way to contact me. Thanks! |
