Explorer 2

I have Rolex Explorer II which I have had for just over 20 years. The crystal has a small chip on one side, and a couple of the numbers on the bezel have come off. The one thing I don't really like now is that the dots on the face are now yellow rather than bright white as with more modern explorers.

I know that I can get all this changed at a cost, but when I recently went into a rolex dealer (not an official one) the guy in there told me that I shouldn't change the face because it's vintage and it will devalue the watch.

Is this true?
