Longines Lindbergh Hour Angle
This is the latest addition to my collection, the Longines Lindbergh Hour Angle.
I ordered this from my AD a few months back when I first read about it & it came in this week. The first thing you notice when you put it on is the size, it’s 47.5mm! Makes my SD seem so small! This is a replica of the original Hour Angle, designed by Charles A Lindbergh to determine longitude during long distance flights. For those that don’t know about Lindbergh, he made the first non-stop transatlantic flight from Roosevelt Airport to Le Bourget Airport near Paris on May 20th 1927 aboard The “Spirit of St. Louis” It took him 33 hours & 39 minutes! It has a Longines L699 self-winding movement & has a pocket watch style rear case cover, which opens to reveal the movement under a sapphire crystal back. It also comes with an exact copy of Lindbergh’s flight plan & a full colour book showing photos of his flight. The box & presentation are excellent, Rolex should take note! Hope you like the pictures (lots of them) The wrist shot Dan |
