First Vintage Rolex - 1675

I have always loved watches and have been an avid Omega collector with some interesting pieces in my collection. However, I had never envisioned delving into the world of Rolex until I bought a 16700 GMT which really opened my eyes. It was love at first sight, however, I yearned for the vintage look which brought me to TRF. As with most of you, I do a lot of my late night reading on this forum and with a couple of false starts along the way (see my previous posts) I managed to land the 1675 of my dreams.

I truly appreciate the vintage look and feel of the watch, as it's a totally different experience than a Speedmaster or Flightmaster. The 1675 is a much more delicate and refined watch compared to the Omega's. This doesn't by any stretch detract from Omega, they just offer a different feel for the era. Omega went for a more bulky and larger dimension look than Rolex. Their watches were also worn by pilots and astronauts. When introduced in 1969, the Flightmaster GMT was considered a monster compared to the 1675. It is 46mm wide (w/crown), weighs 140 grams and is 15mm thick!

So, in short, many thanks to those of you who responded to my random PMs and emails which eventually led me to purchasing this wonderful piece form John a week ago.

Here is my 1976/77 1675, and one of my Flightmaster 911s.
