Rolex 1680 Red Submariner Mark IV All Original Serial# 36888XX
I must reluctantly sell my 1970 era Mark IV 1680 Red Submariner. This watch is a 9.5 out of 10. It has rare original, matching dial/hands/bezel as can be seen in the picture. The patina on the Mark IV open 6, feet first dial dial is exquisite and perfectly matched to the hands, as expected for a matching set. The dial has faint ghosting as is appropriate given the age of the watch. The Twin Lock crown is in great condition, as is the original Top Hat crystal. The bracelet is a 93150 bracelet (which is not original to the watch) with 580 end links; there are 9 links and the diving extension included. It exhibits crisp locking action. Notably, this 1680 was treated to a complete overhaul in February of this year so that it now keeps excellent time and has been pressure tested to ensure that it is watertight.
The case is the reason the watch doesn’t get a full 10/10: it has been polished and as such the lugs are not crisp. The serial number is 36888XX. I have owned this watch for over ten years since purchasing in early 2000’s from HQ Milton and am sorry to see it go but would like to purchase a DSRD. With the recent overhaul, it is ready to provide its new owner with years of faithful service. The fair and firm sales price is $13,500 via wire transfer or cashiers check. Buyers have a 3 day refund period to return the watch if dissatisfied for any reason, less shipping cost. |
