My Two Tone Journey
Hello all, I wanted to share my TT journey, which came to an end this past Saturday. About a year and half ago I purchased my first Rolex, a 114060. I love it. I always knew I wanted this sub and that my second piece would be a TT. IMO nobody does gold, especially TT like Rolex. Back in my younger years I always loved the classic TT dj, with a champagne dial. Very 80's I know, but to me a beautiful watch and an iconic piece or Rolex history. Present day I figured the DJ2, champagne dial, with sticks would be the one. Sub and DJ2 a great one two punch! There was no doubt.
It is funny how things can change, along the way, I got an incredible bargain on a 1980's dj 16014, silver dial with the fluted bezel. I picked up this piece, with some trepidation based on the 36mm size. I then came to realize that 36mm was the perfect size for a dj (to me). When I went back out to browse my grail, the TT DJ2 it now didn't seem right. Don't get me wrong, a beautiful reference, but just didn't seem right to me anymore. What to do? I looked at some 16233's and 116233's but down the road I hope I am able to purchase a President in YG at 36mm. Plus I loved the look of the Oyster bracelet with the gold. I decided to go back out and try them all again, TT Dj2, Dj, Sub, Daytona's, etc. This forum was a great help as well. In the end I came to my decision. I knew I wanted an elegant TT model that I could wear with a suit at work, or on a special occasion, but also dress down a bit. I made my choice and couldn't be happier. I apologize for the crappy cell phone pic and will get some better one's up on the owner's thread soon. Thanks to all the enablers on this forum! |
