Help with value of watch
Hi guys,
Sorry if this is the wrong forum, please feel free to move me. I have a Rolex watch that I bought on eBay three years ago. I am pretty sure it is genuine, but I have no certificate of authenticity nor have I asked an expert to have a look. Anyhow, she does not much like the watch and due to a house move, we are short of cash so I put the watch on eBay. Happy to admit that I am very ignorant of these things but my only guide on the value was what I paid three years ago and I assumed that if I tried to take it to a jeweller, they would offer me less than what I paid so I decided to try my luck. I have now had an offer on it on eBay for less than what I paid for it but around what I assumed I'd get if I took it to a reputable jeweller in town (I live in the Midlands so not loads of places to go to). I just need some rough idea about value if anyone is willing to help, as I have not got any real idea. I have attached an image. It is a Ladies Oyster Perpetual Datejust and the serial number comes out as 1953 which is what I bought it as. The strap is not genuine but the watch is working fine with only minor wear. I have no box, or paperwork, just the watch and the receipt from when I bought it. |
