They come in clumps...

A while back I posted the Hans Wilsdorf Egyptian that I purchased from a gentleman on here that showed it. It was such a stunner dial I couldn't pass it and a good friend wanted me to pursue it beyond what I would have normally paid. I ended up selling it to him because he wanted it very badly and I really wasn't in a position to keep it. Well fast forward...and Adam sends me a photo of this. To make a long story short...it showed up at my door today. I can't afford it either but I may sell one of my other 2 Wilsdorf's to offset.

This one is unique...dial is not quite as mesmerizing as the other one but this watch is a bigger watch. Small by today's standards but kind of in the Speedking range. Utilizes 14mm strap lugs and is about 28 mm or so round. This is the ONLY KNOWN 9 3/4 Hans Wilsdorf movement and the only known Hans Wilsdorf Egyptian of this larger size to date. All of the other movements previously have been 10.5 ligne in the Speedking size cases and 8.75 ligne size is what is found in the smaller Egyptian. This is a 9 3/4 and thus far...completely unique.

There are probably more out there because it would be highly unusual for them to make ONE of anything...but so far no 9 3/4 movements exist but this one and no large Egyptian cases either. It is beyond rare. This movement is nearly pristine condition.

I guess it's a niche...but it seems I have owned all 3 of the known Hans Wilsdorf Egyptian watches that have come to light so far.....I sold the first one to Rolex in 2004 for their Geneva Museum.

It's just strange to think....Thanks to Adam and Philip for their help and support in acquiring this.

It is tres' unique and I can't wait to clean up the case and service the movement.

I have an NOS crown for it luckily.
