5513 Pearl Insert
My 1980 5513 has a later Rolex pearl insert (with the small steel rim).
I have the following questions for you vintage gurus - 1. How easy is it to obtain a period Rolex tritium pearl insert to replace it with? Will I have to pay an exorbitant sum and is it worth it? 2. Alternatively, I have seen period style third party pearl inserts that seem reasonably priced. Should I go for one of these even though it's not a Rolex part ? My dealer (David Duggan in London) says best to leave it. Its a Rolex pearl and perfectly acceptable. And of course I prefer it to no pearl at all. It looks ok but it bugs me a little so I would like to replace it if possible. Thank you
