I wouldn't worry about the vibration causing any damage though. Although I do think a long distance ride is a better fit for a beater. (Maybe a Rolex is your beater though... my Rolex cost almost as much as my bike)

I'm going for this one, I felt the need for a chronograph with a 12 hour counter and preferably a tachymeter. One tool to calculate how long it would take me to travel a certain distance and one to make sure I actually make it before nightfall. I don't think I will be carrying a gps, so there's that...
