Hello. I have been reading the forums here and learning quite a bit in the last couple of weeks. I have been doing some research on a watch my husband has had for about 25 years but never known much about. (He found it on the trunk of his friend's car in an unattended public parking lot after a night out back in the early 90's.) Half the bracelet was missing and he's never worn it.
After a bit of research I have found out that it is a Submariner 5512 from 1967 or 68. There's some damage to the hands (luminous in missing on hour hand and corroded on min and sec hand) and to the crown. We've had two jewelers look at it and tell us it's real. It runs and keeps time. My next step is to try to take it to an Authorized Rolex Dealer to have someone open it up and give us a better idea of its condition and originality. It's been fun researching and learning about this watch and I appreciate TRF for being a good source of information. |
