My first Jaeger LeCoultre

So I received my new JLC 39mm Calendar. Was so busy I waited a day to open it. Took a couple of weeks to get since an AD had to special order it to get me a new one.

The watch looks way more expensive that it was, but there was one snag. I was warned to check the dial by a couple of members here using a loupe. Didn't need a loupe. It looks like there is a deposit of something at the 8 o'clock position. It could be condensation that dripped from the shipping to the states that left some residue or when they were putting the watch together something touched the dial. Under a loupe the spot looks crystalline like when hard water leaves a spot. In bright light, like that at an AD, you might not even see it. In the crappy light of my home office, you do.

I called JLC and they said it can be taken care of but with the disclaimer until they examine it, there is no guarantee it will be covered under the 2 year warranty. I kinda get that. If I called my car dealer and said, hey I just noticed scuff on the door chrome, they would say the same thing till they examined it. How do I know, I must have crappy luck. The clear coat paint on my at the time 2 year old Mercedes peeled off and they had to "examine" it before determining it was covered.

Anyway, love the watch. I wore it to the iPhone pre-order launch at work and it became a topic of conversation in the "war room". Not just for the other WIS guy in the room who wore a Nomos Lambda (hey he's in his 20's). It caused a big discussion with the executives who popped in at 2am when someone used my watch as an example for a discussion of the new Apple Watch as more expensive over the course of the lifetime vs a "real" watch that can be used 50 years from now by your kids. BTW. Not sure I would have gotten as much notice with my Nautilus. No one has commented at work on the nautilus except the one WIS guy who knew what it was. I think this is like when I had a yellow mini-Cooper as my daily and all I got was positive comments from young women, yet in all my years of owning Porsches I only get comments from 12 year old boys and gas station attendants (the car equivalent of a WIS).

Anyway back to the "spot" on the dial, I will have to send it to JLC in Texas at some point this winter. Maybe I'll drop it off in person if I have to visit a customer in the Dallas area. Why the delay and not just send it back now, I have a couple of suit/tux family get togethers coming up and want to wear it since I don't really own another dress watch other than this one and a vintage watch my son has borrowed and now seems to live in his watch box.

Anyway very excited to own my first Jaeger. I feel like a Marvel superhero now... or at least a Tony Stark wanna be.
