Whatever the reasoning, I feel sorry for the ADs who’ve dropped substantial amounts of money into their retail and have nothing to sell.


Agree- seems cruel to have strong-armed ADs to spend money to renovate a corner of their store to create a Rolex “boutique” within their space and then to choke supply to same ADs. If I was an honest AD (ie one that isn’t supplying grays), I’d be pretty pissed off.
