Oyster Watch Co. Abercrombie and Fitch Seafarer
As a first time poster I should make a quick introduction. My name is David and I’m a vintage watch hoarder living in Germany ! Back in 2016 I bought an Abercrombie and Fitch Seafarer that is based on a Mido Multichrono, and I wrote a small article that’s hosted on they Heuer forum OnTheDash here:
Edit: I don’t have post count to insert links. Aargh ! If you go to OTD and look under articles you’ll find it. Whilst researching this I was shown the trademark information for A&F and it states that the SEAFARER trademark was filed in 1949, but the name was actually in earlier use since 1930. Now my Seafarer chronograph is proof of the earlier use, but only as far back as 1938/39 according to archive information for the case and movement. So I’m now trying to find an example of use between 1930 and 1938, and that’s led me to an old thread on this forum about Oyster Watch Co. models including reference to one apparently signed Abercrombie and Fitch Seafarer: Edit: Can’t add the link. If you search for Seafarer in this forum it’s the thread titled Oyster Watch Co. It is mentioned in post 27, and whilst there is a photo of an A&F Oyster in post 30 there are no images of one dialed as A&F Seafarer. So now I’m desperately seeking an image of that watch, or at least some kind of confirmation that it exists. Is anyone here able to provide any assistance ? |
