Box and books value

Hey,

Was wondering how important is it to save the box and books of the watch?
When buying a watch out of your home country arriving with an empty box is a hard signal for customs that the watch on your wrist is brand new. So was thinking to just keep the papers and throw the box and books away...
How would it affect selling the watch in the future?
Can you purchase a box from a boutique if needed? Whats the value?

Thx
