Daytona, minute hand on subdial misaligned
Hi guys, this is my first post in RL forum. I purchased Daytona 116520 M-series SS at the end of 2008. I just noticed that the minute hand on the subdial is slightly misaligned, as you can see in the picture. It is hard to notice when it is on reset position but when the chrono function is used, it can be seen that the hand does not line up perfectly with the mark on subdial. (I never noticed that until one of my friend pointed it out). I live in Ohio, where there is no official RL service center (only RL dealers/jewelers). So i called RSC in NY. They said I can ship the watch there and they will fix it without any cost. my questions are:
1. Should I fix it or just leave it? 2. Is it safe to ship the watch for service? they recommend using USPS registered mail but when i checked online, u can only insure at most $5000 per package. Any body have experience shipping RL for service to NY, and how long does it take? 3. I talked with the RL authorized dealer (jeweler) near by and he said this is quite common for chrono watch even for RL, is that true? 4. Any body has the same problem (or have seen this kind of problem)? This is my first Chrono watch but not the first RL, and so far I have never seen defect in any RL watch I purchased. Thanks guys, and sorry for such a long post. Any opinion or suggestion would be appreciated |
