Tax in Romania is 19%. Tax in Austria is 20%. By that logic, prices should be higher in Austria. So it is not the tax.

Or is it a rip off ?

Here's the reason. If you compare prices in countries with Euros, net prices are all the same with only difference being due to the tax differences. So cheapest Rolex would be Luxembourg with 17% tax and most expensive would be Finland or Greece with 24% tax with difference for this particular watch being 750 Euros between the 2 according to my calculation.

The problem with that is, not all countries use Euros, and in some countries, the price will be the same as EU net price+tax. For example IIRC Sweden and Czechia are examples of that. If you take a VAT free price of 10958 (calculated from taking Austrian price of 13150 and dividing by 1.2) and multiply it by 1.21 you will get a Czech price converted to Euros listed by other forum member (more or less rounded to closest 50).

In Romania it seems to not be the case.
