Would you pay £2100 for a Seiko S/Hand.
A lot of people seem to hold these in high esteem myself included. Indeed the Seiko Grand or Credor range sell often for more used than new.The watch
Built entirely in house, including movement.IHMO watch and movement is the equal of todays Rolex, the movements slightly better. But the problem is its a Seiko,I admire Seiko, respect the horology of their products, especially the S/Grand.The quality of the Grand Seiko's is not in dispute for me,but the thought of paying £2000 plus for a Seiko is a psychological thing. Its like If Skoda made a car which visually and technically was every bit as good as a Ferrari, and only cost half the price, would it sell?.I would doubt, you see the name and image means everything. But is this right or have we all been brain washed,to think the most expensive is better.I've handled Grand Seiko's and Credors and the fit and finish is right up there with the top High-End Swiss. The fact remains that Grands & Credors aren't made to be sold in the west. They're made for a market which Seiko presumably knows very well Japan. But myself still looking for a 1960s one at the right price.
