New arrival has landed - first Breitling!!!

I have not paid a lot of attention to Breitling. Occasionally, I would pay a visit to a boutique or an AD to take a peak at the offerings. But, nothing has really caught my attention. Lately, I have a tendency to simply pass by the Breitling display case with just an informal glance at the case. I didn't even pay attention to this year's new releases at Baselworld '19.

As a road warrior, I normally fly in on Monday mornings for client engagements. This week, client needs required me to fly in on Sunday morning. I decided to visit the local mall, which has several boutiques and ADs - big mistake! I was walking by the Breitling boutique with no intentions of visiting, when something caught my attention in the display window. It was a "what the . . .?" moment that stopped me dead in my tracks!

It was the Navitimer Ref. 806 1959 Re-Edition:

Now I know re-editions have a tendency to get ‘under the skin’ of some of my fellow watch fans, but I absolutely love this recent influx of re-editions, especially when it comes to dive and pilot watches. This one is no exception. For me, these Tributes are like owning a piece of vintage history from the past. From the moment I tried this on the wrist, I knew this would be my first Breitling. I was not going to let this opportunity ‘fly away’ from me!

Well, despite the heavy crosswinds out there, she made a successful landing this morning:

I love the domed hesalite crystal:

Yes, there is no denying that this one busy dial. Yet, it doesn't appear cluttered. It's actually an impressive feat to pull off!

Time a for mandatory celebration! You and your team did an outstanding job! I consider myself quite fortunate to own such a stunning piece!

Have a great weekend!
