TRF generosity in London.....
I saw yesterday that a number of the UK members of this forum and another Rolex forum have been going out and accosting people on the street and giving them a Rolex. Basically just walking up to strangers and looking at their wrist, and seeing no watch or a cheap watch, and giving those people a Rolex.
This apparent good deed was to counteract the negative news of people having their watches stolen in London. When interviewed one of the elated recipients showed off his new watch and stated "this is the best city in the world". Unfortunately with all the media attention, his watch was later stolen but at least he was able to enjoyed the good life for a short while. When asked about the generosity, the TRF member merely replied that he had a glut of Rolexes at home and he wanted to do his bit for his city, so out he went and donated to a stranger, and Bob's your uncle. To which the American interviewer had no idea what he was talking about since he didn't have an Uncle Bob. He asked the gentleman if he could have a Rolex too and he was told to sod off. I thought it was a nice gesture for their city and a chance to get those dormant Rolexes back in circulation. |
