Orton Effect Photography
I've been a fan of Michael Orton since I first saw his painterly images. They were ethereal and otherworldly and reminded me of some of the cinematography of Vilmos Zsigmond from the late 70's, especially some of films of Brian DePalma. He shot shot two overerexposed slides and combined them in printing. Of course, that's a more simplistic explanation which doesn't capture the pastel beauty of what he created.
But here is a digital recreation with a few of my own pictures in homage to this style he created. |
