Servicing a Watch These Days

I called the RSC in New York today regarding a mid-80s DateJust that I'm interested in getting serviced. It is a family piece and I'm not sure when it last saw attention. The Customer Service fellow told me that the RSC is closed and they don't know when it will open again, but that I could take it to my local AD (in Wash DC) who would send it to Pennsylvania for service.

Does this seem like an option you all would feel comfortable with pursuing? I'm not familiar with the PA facility.

Thanks!
