Help Me Decide on Roulette Date Wheel
Greetings -
Found a very nice 36mm DJ, fluted bezel, Oyster bracelet. I'm not sure of the year, but will get the full details tomorrow. I prefer the newer 3235 movement with the 70 hour power reserve, as well as the Oyster bracelet that has the EasyLink system. I believe the watch has both, but it may have the older 3125 movement. I also noticed that the dial has markers with small Roman numerals above each marker in five minute increments around the outer ring of the dial. That's fine, but what I've read on this forum is that a dial like that typically came standard with the "roulette" date dial - alternating red/black numbers depending on whether or not the date was odd (red) or even (black). Frankly, if it has that dial I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'm a senior citizen and I'm "old school", remembering when I bought my first 36mm TT DJ in 1981 with the standard black date markings. What is the general feeling about the roulette date wheel? Is it a positive (rare) or negative (it's rare for a reason!). This will be my final Rolex - my birthday watch marking a significant 70th celebration - I want the watch to be "the one". The seller is offering it at a good price, but maybe that's because it is indeed the roulette date and other buyers prefer the standard black date. Any help/opinions/thoughts are welcome. I'd like to get this resolved quickly, so I thank you in advance for your help. |
