I think the collecting community is very sheepish. The AK was subject to early criticism that it has not overcome, whereas these new OP had early fanfare. It’s interesting because I find the AK to be quite understated compared to some of these loud dials.

OP has a coherent design. Rolex did not, for example, take the black OP and give it Stella colored hour markers or a Stella colored Rolex logo.

The air king is a great but funky watch like the Milgauss. A serious watch but with a splash of fun. The colored OP is not a serious watch, it is clearly a fashion piece and priced as such (at the AD). It's lighthearted nature is what attracts people to it, IN MY OPINION.
