DJ41 Buyer's Remorse - Flip into a Sub?

So I got a DJ41 with a rhodium dial and oyster bracelet. It's by far the nicest watch I've ever owned, as my most expensive watch other than this is an Apple Watch. But I've had the watch less than a week and already have some buyer's remorse. Here is my experience with the DJ41:

1. The quality of the build is very high and it is within one second per day.

2. The sunburst dial and shiny surfaces are a lot flashier than I really feel comfortable with. I am not a showy person and want something that obviously looks luxurious but maybe doesn't bling so much.

3. I wish it had a rotating bezel to time things.

4. I love the cyclops. Date is very useful for me.

5. I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable wearing it at work.

6. I don't think the rhodium dial lends itself well to being a good casual watch since it looks quite flashy. I think I'd prefer a non-sunburst dial.

7. I'm not a fan of PCLs. Not because of the scratches or anything. Just because it looks a bit too blingy.

8. When I look down at the watch, I don't see myself wearing it everywhere, doing anything and loving it deeply. When you know, you know... And this just is not the one.

9. It's not a Sub, and I've realized I can't rationalize my way out of that being the watch I love.

The watch was a gift from my wife celebrating a major milestone and she loves the watch, but ultimately it wasn't a blind gift and was something we discussed (a lot) and decided on, so she knows about buyer's remorse and that it isn't my first choice of watch but something we could get at the AD. I feel guilty for not fully appreciating the gift from my wife but ultimately it does not feel like "the one". In my heart of hearts I know it is a black on black Submariner - really any of them. The 16610, the 116610LN (probably my favourite) or the new 126610LN would all do for me.

So the question becomes this - what can I do from here?

My wife told me to keep it for a year and wear it, and if I still feel the same then I can sell it (maybe lose $1k or whatever) and get a Sub and it can still be an heirloom piece to celebrate the milestone this DJ was meant to celebrate.

My question is, how to best go about this? I have the box, papers, warranty, and bought the watch from the AD.

Am I best swapping this for a Sub through a grey market dealer? Am I better off separately selling it for cash then subsequently buying a Sub? What is the best way to go about this? Where do I even start?

I paid (including taxes) CAD$10,250 or so for the watch and it is showing on Chrono24 for over CAD$12,000 pre-owned. So I'm not particularly concerned about losing my money (and money is not the big issue here). My concern is I don't want to do anything stupid but I want to get the watch I'm most interested in without doing anything stupid or unnecessarily losing money. Used Subs appear to be going for about CAD$17,000, or maybe CAD$13,000 pre-ceramic. I could afford to spend whatever the additional amount is needed for a Sub, although I am also considering the pre-ceramic.

Any guidance would be appreciated here.
