5 digit vs 6 digit is a valid dilemma. I think one has to look at the core use and naming of steel rolex sports models. The "sports" part in the name is key, you don't want a heavy metal watch when doing athletic or physical activities, I am a long distance runner and would never in a million years run with a 6 digit model, its just too heavy(garmin all the way!).
The 5 digit bracelet feels flimsy because its supposed to be light and is designed for sports like activities. That being said the 6 digits feel bank vault sturdy and engineered perfectly. They also have anti magnetic capabilities and anti shock resistantance. The ceramic bezels never fade but a drop from up high could shatter them. Really I think it comes down to wrist size, a bias to or not towards more shiny features, weight preference and how much one values all the new techology of the 6 digits. Choose from those values and you can't go wrong. 5 or 6 digit refs are great watches that will last a few lifetimes and hold their value like no other watch brand. |
