I'm guessing that, for those who like to sit around talking watches on the internet (or those who wanted a Daytona a few years ago), TT is rarely the first choice. However I think there is a massive population segment that prefers TT. But they're the guys who buy a TT DJ as a retirement gift to themselves and wear that same watch for the next 30 years, or ladies who are looking for jewelry that also tells time and find that the TT go best with other jewelry they own. Stereotyping big time here, but you see where I'm going (in terms of how myopic our view is of overall preferences in the market).

Now, there may be a lot of people out there for whom TT is a second choice for a different reason: It's more affordable than PM. Perhaps the above-mentioned customers would really prefer 18k YG DD/DJ, but it's just not financially feasible, so they "settle" for TT. Very different, though (since they still went to the shop looking to obtain TT).
