WTS: Longines 5548 Cal 22A
Price:
USD 2,200 shipped Item: Longines 5548 Movement: Automatic Dated: circa 1950s Accessories: None Condition: - Very good vintage condition - Case has hairline scratches consistent to its age - Hallmarks on caseback still visible - Appears unpolished Description: This is the Longines 5548. Longines was originally found in 1832 by August Agassiz. By 1880, Longines started to create all their movements in-house. Famous for their movements such as the Calibre 20H, 13ZN and 30CH, older Longines house their claim to fame - their movements. After being acquired in 1971 by what is now known as the Swatch Group, Longines started using ETA movements. Vintage Longines tend to be more sought after than their modern counterparts due to their timeless looks and the movement that is housed within. In 1946, Longines successfully manufactured their first in-house automatic Calibre - the 22A. This timepiece houses that very movement in a beautiful sector dial with small seconds at the 6 o’clock marker and cowhorn lugs. The case size is 33mm with the case material being 14k yellow gold and this Longines was retailed by Wittnauer. I am based in Singapore, I have some references which I am happy to share privately. I have references on Reddit / TRF / WUS as well and also sell on Chrono24.
