My wife's dayjust stopped ticking

My wife's TT DJ all the suddenly stopped without any reason. This has happened once in the past, but recovered after hand-winding it. It keeps excellent time; +2 seconds/day. It was bought in 1983 and had been overhauled two years ago. She has been wearing it daily; and she is an active lady. This time, after shaking it or winding it, the watch again keeps perfect time.

Any possible solutions? I would hate to send it in for another overhaul; which cost around $400.

Thanks,

San
