Incoming: My first Rolex (14060)
Hi everyone,
After posting a few messages, I want to properly introduce my recently-purchased first Rolex: a 1993 Submariner 14060. I got it from a Rolex AD that happens to sell pre-owned models as well. I had fallen out of love with the Sub when I tried a 124060 on a few months ago, as it didn't quite match the idea that I had of it. It's a beautiful watch for sure, but it almost looked "too perfect". I was then looking at a Yacht-Master 16622, but decided against it because the platinum dial was too similar to my Omega Grey Side of the Moon. Then the other day we went watch shopping with my wife in anticipation of celebrating the upcoming birth of our first child. We saw that 14060 and asked to try it on, and it was love at the first sight. This was what I expected from a Submariner, even if it doesn't have all of the modern refinements. The employee was extremely passionate and knowledgeable about each of the pieces on display, knowing the exact patina and general condition of all of them. We spend a good two hours talking with him about Rolex and watches in general, mostly vintage/pre-owned, and we left with this Sub in excellent condition. Hopefully our child will wear it some day! Until then, I will be very happy to do it myself. I'm refraining from wearing it until the birth, which is an exercise in self-control. These are my first steps in the world of Rolex, with the goal of one day adding a 126710 BLRO... Maybe for child #2 |
