Has anyone else noticed the 5 digit matte dials vs 4 digits?

Like many of the regulars on the vintage subforum, I always like to keep a close eye on the prices of the vintage models. Lately I've noticed prices for the 16800 matte dials getting close to 1680 white Subs.

I never thought that would happen. However, I can understand why it could occur.

These are the neo-vintage models which were only made for a short time before the white gold surrounds glossy dial 16800 and they have the modern convenience of the quick set date, sapphire crystal and the unidirectional bezel.

The 16660 matte dial has always been sought after, but it seems the 16800 is catching up.

Anyway, I found it interesting to observe.
