It all depends on the surface and if you slide the watch at all. Ice was a non issue with leaving hairlines on the case. I noticed the warmth of the watch actually melted a small spot into the ice when I picked it up.
Stone or concrete is another story and I wont set my watch down on it unless there is a pad underneath. After all these years I still hold my watch close over the counter when drying it from its Dawn dish soap washing. Too many forum reports of what a 4’ drop does to a crystal.
