A Great Day!
Hello TRFers,
Hope all of you are doing well. Just wanted to share my great day with you. Our unit was tasked to support the film crew of a new show coming to the History Channel called Lock N' Load. The host of the show is non other than R. Lee Ermey, "Gunny"....star of Full Metal Jacket. First, I'd like to tell you Gunny is a great American. He's an icon in my book because he served in the military and he's a huge supporter of troops. He is very down to earth and extremely approachable. He also enjoys wearing Rolexes...that's always a plus. This particular episode was dedicated to military helicopters. It started with the "Gunny" parachuting out of our CH47F Chinook from 7500 feet. The guy is 65 years old and still enjoys doing these activies...amazing. Then a Q & A with Gunny and me on the CH47 and what it's capabilities are. We then moved to a demonstration of us sling-loading a Howitzer out to the range for him to fire. The best part about all of this was meeting Gunny. Another plus is that this day's events will be televised on the new show sometime in September. I noticed his TT Daytona when I first met him. I was wearing my GMT and after gaining a little courage, asked him to pose with our Rolexes. He told me he had 12 Rolexes. He had received his watches as gifts after completing movies. Not a bad gift, hey? Anyways, it was an amazing day to be a part of all of this. Below are a few photos I took. I hope you enjoy them and thanks for reading. Me and the Gunny Gunny and his Daytona Rolex fans Close up
