Sniffed Out A Scam on VRF- Guys PLEASE BE CAREFUL
I know we are all looking to get watches on our wrists that AD's just do not have. Some of us try to get creative to find watches, and some of us only want to work with trusted dealers.
I am one that likes working with both dealers and members, I always do my due diligence and buy the seller! Last night (a bit later than I would like to admit), while looking for a 116520 I came across a beautiful "panna" dial 116520 that I HAD to have. I reached out, got reply this morning and everything seemed fine. I then asked for references, which I got a reply to pretty quickly. By sheer luck a client I was about to work with asked for a 15 minute extension, so I looked a bit into these references while waiting. Nearly instantly I saw one of them was posting a Pepsi for $11k on Breitling forum, and was called out for being a scam. Where the seller is linked to a scam, there must be another. I then clicked on the 116520 link to get a better view of the ad (I should never look at ads on my phone again late at night!) and there it is clear as day, the first photo looks like a horrible photoshop of a timestamp. Link below for anybody interested to take a look (of course if it is not allowed, I can remove) https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/vint...s-t269272.html Moral of the story, PLEASE BE CAREFUL with what you buy online. Buy the seller, do your homework, due diligence, and stay vigilant! The internet can be a scary place, but there are many good folks out there. |
