Incoming: Yacht-master 2
Just got this baby from the AD earlier this week.
Although referring to the YM2 as baby is a misnomer because it’s got such a massive wrist presence. Initially, it never crossed my mind to add a YM2 to my collection as I’d been waiting for a sky dweller. The AD had an exhibition piece available that day so I asked to try it on just for kicks. Kick me it did because I ended up going down the rabbit hole, obsessively scouring every forum and platform for information, while also making several trips down to the AD to try on the YM2 over and over just to be absolutely sure. But in my heart, I knew from the get-go that it had to be mine. It’s an absolute stunner in person and wears supremely comfortably despite its 44mm case size. It wears much better than the SD43 MM which I also own but could never get a good fit despite several strap changes & bracelet adjustments. Probably the only Rolex apart from the Cellini where the model name isn’t printed on the dial because of the limited real estate. A common gripe about the YM2 is the YACHT-MASTER II lettering on the bezel. Personally, it’s hardly noticeable when on the wrist and I’ve never once been bothered by it. As a bonus, the regatta countdown timer is actually useful in everyday life. I find myself using it on a regular basis to time even the most mundane of tasks. Certainly a whole lot more user friendly than the screw down pushers on the Daytona. |
